Taste of Morocco

It has been a while since we last updated our blog, but that is because we have been so busy with the holidays, wrapping up/quitting our jobs, enjoying Colorado, saying good-byes to friends, and moving out of our apartment. Since we were leaving, we decided to get together with great friends and what we discovered to be great food.

Since we are moving to Morocco, Brittany and I wanted our friends to try out what we would be eating there. We also wanted to try our first Moroccan restaurant in the Denver area. We searched online for Moroccan restaurants and decided to go to Tangier Moroccan Cuisine in Boulder based on good reviews and the price.

Friends

We were happy from the moment we were greeted by our host and owner, named Khalil. He was very pleasant, and the inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated. And from the moment we mentioned we would be living in Morocco with the Peace Corps, we noticed even more gracious hospitality. Khalil actually worked for Peace Corps in Morocco about 15-20 years ago, so we were all delighted by the unique connection! We talked with him about Peace Corps, Rabat, and other places to visit in the country.

After tasty hummus, Harira soup, and Casa Beer, I was ready for my main course of a Lamb, onion, raisin tagine. Let me tell you, this lamb tagine was simply delicious! The flavors of the raisin, onions, and other spices in the tagine went beautifully with the tender lamb. Brittany ordered the lamb, potato, olive tagine, which she loved as well.

Mint Tea Fez

We were then treated to complimentary mint tea and baklava for dessert! During this time, I was given a Fez to wear and Khalil poured mint tea into a cup on top of my head! The dinner was amazing, and the food, along with great conversations and great service, made it a very special gathering.

If you are in the Boulder area, go to Tangier Moroccan Cuisine. It is highly recommended!
